"This is just a little Sunday treat for you, because I am not able to do a livestream today. The track starts with a pad from the Korg Wavestate, which I used as in its native plugin version. The following sequence uses the wavetable engines of Waldorf’s Iridium. The bass is from the Prophet 10 and the lead melody from the Arturia Minifreak. Effects are U-He Color Copy, Valhalla DSP Shimmer.

Neptun went into a hyperactive state when I started the recording, he played a note (this time in key!) at 03:19

"Welcome to the 59th edition of my Home Concert series. In this set I present five new Ambient tracks. I used a few instruments, which I had not in my studio for a while. Like the Moogerfooger Ringmodulator, the Modular system and the Waldorf Microwave 1 (in the rack off screen). Music was arranged in Bitwig using midi for the hardware synths and also a few software instruments. My main controller is the Midi Fighter Twister with a script for Bitwig.

"Setup of this track: The Digitakt plays the drums and controls the OB-6 (Track 9), Prophet 10 (Track 10) and the Waldorf Pulse 2 (Track 11) over midi. The Syntakt plays the first sequence (Track 1), the pad (Track 2) and the lead sound (Track 5). The Midi Fighter Twister controls the levels in Bitwig and the effects, which are Valhalla DSP Delay, Supermassive and Vintage Verb.

"The ISE-NIN is a synthesizer 'inspired by' the Roland Jupiter 8. Both sounds in this track are played at the same time using the dual layer mode. The first patch is sequenced by 'Stepic' by Devicemeister. I added effects from Valhalla DSP (Delay & Room).

"In this live session I demonstrate the new features of version 1.5 of "Stepic". The free update introduces transposing through incoming midi notes, a new chord mode and an arpeggiator. It is also possible to select the pattern with a midi note. I am going to release a "talking video" in which I explain the new features in detail soon.

Ambient performance with Ableton Push 3 (Pigments, Bioscape)

"This ambient performance was recorded with a simple FM patch in Arturia Pigments. I used the MPE mode of Push3 to play it dynamically while the aftertouch controlled the FM depth of the patch. Horizontal slide controls the pitch but unfortunately I could not figure out how to assign vertical slide to any parameter in Pigments. Please let me know if you have an idea!

Waldorf Discontinues the Pulse 2

"It’s always sad when we have to say goodbye to one of our favorite instruments. In this case we are talking about one of the best synthesizers that first saw the light of day in 1995 and has inspired many music producers and musicians to this day.

This device was one of the pioneers in the world of music production, offering many possibilities to create unique and innovative sounds. It has helped many artists to turn their musical visions into reality.

"After two and a half years of playing (mostly) at home it was a pleasure to bring my synthesizers on stage at Superbooth 22 in Berlin. This liveset was built around Ableton Live as midi sequencer and audio mixer. All sounds are from the Waldorf Iridium, Waldorf M, Oberheim Xpander, Moog Sub37 and Eurorack Modular.

Roland JD-08 Ambient Improvisation

"I got the new Roland JD-08 synthesizer. It is modeled after the JD800 which I had in my setup years ago. In this improvisation I am using four audio tracks with the "Looper" device of Ableton Live. I can control the Looper and volume with the Midi fighter Twister. Each vertical line of four knobs controls one track. All patches were designed by myself. Effects are Valhalla DSP Delay and Valhalla DSP Vintage Verb."

"This is my last track for 2021, thanks a lot to everyone who listened to my music this year and supported my music!

SETUP in this track:
All drums and bass sounds are from the Digitakt. It also sequences the Modular on Midi channel 2 & 3. The Modular is playing two voices with the Mutable Instruments modules Plaits and Braids. At the beginning I play a Chord on the Juno60 that keeps going using the "hold" function. Mixing and effects are within Ableton using the Valhalla DSP Delay and Vintage Verb. The Midi Fighter Twister controls a few FX parameters and volume levels."

"This is the Waldorf M - Wavetable Synthesizer. In this track I use the Multi mode which allows to play up to four different patches on individual Midi channels and audio outputs. Sequencing and Effects by Ableton Live. The last sound is from the Waldorf Iridium.

"It is time for another Ambient / Berlin School session! I prepared three long tracks with pads and sequences from the Oberheim Xpander, Waldorf Iridium, Roland Juno-60, Sequential Rev2, Moog Sub37, Arturia Microfreak and my modular system. All sounds are midi sequenced from Ableton. FX are coming from U-He Colour Copy, NI Raum. The Rev2 is connected to Strymon Timeline and Eventide H9. My Juno-60 is clocked from Ableton 'CV Tools' through an audio output of the RME 802. I am playing the Arpeggiator and hope to have a proper midi interface for it next time."
